My kantele
By: misanthrone
Date: 5 Mar 2009
Rating:
The best melodic death metal album ever!.. at that time (1994) this was a real sensation.. Amorphis managed to break barriers, moving death metal into another dimension.. starting with the beautiful “Thousand lakes” (still my fave intro ever), continuing with the great “Into hiding” they display something very unique.. the atmosphere is amazing, in part because of the use of their traditional instrument, the “kantele”.. of course, the “hit” of this album is “My kantele”, where the use of the traditional instrument is more obvious.. I cannot point to a fave song, all of them are just incredible.. 15 years after, I still get a kick listening to this.. also, if you get the bonus version, you’ll hear a great cover for “Light my fire” by The Doors..
