I was watching a documentary about the Nazi propaganda filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl last night. The documentary was made in 1993, 10 years before she died. There were a lot of images from her films, beautiful and imaginative imagery, very talented lady, she pioneered a lot of techniques still in use today. But, after the fall of Hitler she never worked in film again, was pretty much blacklisted worldwide. She insisted that her films were NOT propaganda, they were works of art and peace!
I was just wondering how the Germans on here view her today. Has her talent ever been recognized by Germany, or is she still personna non grata in Germany?

i saw some interview ...she lived anonymous somewhere in germany kinda isolated

Thats it! Leni Riefenstahl is a very ambivalent woman. For sure her movies were well done, especially in the time she was making them, but still she was working with A.H.
Interesting thing: my cousin got a baby and called her Leni. THe name is getting more and more famous today. But when the "Leni" boom started, many ppl were angry and didnt want the name to be famous.
I cannot say much about Frau Riefenstahl actually, cause I haven´t seen mch of her, but as german u should be carefull....as with everything that has to do with A.H or Nazis and so on ....
Another problem are people from othter countries. when i was in Sweden in 2006 i met a young guys (19yo) from Lille in Northern France. We had a course together and he hated me, cause I was german. He called me Dirty-Nazi all the time and german Bastard and stuff. And this still happens time by time...but what should I do? Iam 26 now, not even my parents were involved in WWII...
what I wanna say is, that as a German u always have that Nazi-stuff in your background and should never forget it! _________________ JOIN ZAGANISM, PM ME FOR INFOS (Headpriest Cherubian)
