|
I don't know a lot about MySpace so I need some help from you guys. The idea came from a SSTer.
Is it possible to add DFM as a playlist on your profile? Maybe with some 3rd party tool? Kind of like what the bands have but just a direct link to the listen link which plays automatically. This would kick ass on our MySpace and maybe some of the DFMers too!
Thanks for your help in advance. _________________ "It's all Venger's fault! We oughtta do something about that guy. " -Eric

I'm not a MySpace expert also. I did some googling. My MySpace page has a sample now. It will work on Internet Explorer, in machines with Windows Media Player installed. In FireFox it will work sometimes (according to some documents). It did not work in my FF though.
The problem with MySpace is that they have controls over every content of their pages. If there is some way to execute 3rd part tools, I did not discovered it yet. My first option was to put a Real Player embeded, but MySpace only allows Windows Media Player ones.
There is an option on a Flash Player. Someone here can know something about it. I'll try to learn a bit more about it tomorrow (today).
Anyway, here is the code to be put in MySpace profile:
Code: |
<center>
<embed allowScriptAccess="never" allowNetworking="internal" enableJavaScript="false"
name=RAOCXplayer
pluginspage=http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/Downloads/Contents/Products/MediaPlayer/
src="http://community.loudcity.com/stations/death-fm/files/show/WMP-lo.asx"
width=280 height=50 type=video/x-ms-asf loop="false" autostart="true" ShowStatusBar="1">
</embed>
</center>
|
I have put it in "I'd Like to Meet:" section.
I have used 32K WMA since aacPlus (32K & 64K) depends on the plugin and 128K streams are only for RIPs. |

It's not going to be easy because the player needs to access cross-domain sources. Even if the playlist would be stored locally, if the stream source is located inside an external domain, then we have a problem. The MySpace web application would have to trust any external media source and forward that media to their users, which is not acceptable in terms of net security.
I've also searched the web last night, looking for a solution. I've also found the Microsoft Media Player code examples, but no Flash example. When I tried a trick with a HTML file on my computer and a third-party Flash application, the Flash plug-in yelled at me that there may be a security problem with the (local) page I was trying to load, and sent me to the player configuration page.
The fact that Media Player is able to play an external stream without asking about the legibility of the source looks more like a security hole in the ActiveX control itself. I'm even surprised that MySpace allows users to embed the Microsoft Media Player in their pages, because many of us know how an ActiveX control can turn into a nightmare. _________________ diginferno

found some codec for the VLC player embedded which might be able to handle exotic format:

continued:
http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=40743
But tried also some Flash player,that are aorund in masses for myspace, to connect to DFM stream such as "profile tweak mp3 player", which does a good job on mine page since over 1 year. Outcome: didn´t work on the stream!
As the name porclaims it just works on .mp3 and not .pls.
Good luck _________________

Thanks for your help so far. I tried the Windows Media player and it wouldn't display. MySpcace alters the code to the point where it's dysfunctional. _________________ "It's all Venger's fault! We oughtta do something about that guy. " -Eric

I added it back in the day, but using the same steps that Pesadelo had, and it doesn't work in firefox. I used to be good with all the myspace stuff, but don't really mess with it anymore. |
